Devotees in India On Eighth day of Hindu Pageant Navratri

Religious Hindus in India on Sunday, October 6, thronged temples and marquees on the event of Ashtami to supply prayers to Hindu Goddess Durga through the ongoing nine-day competition of Navratri.
The festive spirit gripped devotees in New Delhi and northeastern Guwahati and western Mumbai cities the place they carried out particular prayers and wearing conventional outfits and flocked completely different marquees to see the bigger than life idols of the goddess and pray for well-being of their household.

‘Navratri’ holds immense significance in Hinduism. It’s believed that through the competition, Goddess Durga descends on earth to destroy the demons and bless her devotees with happiness and prosperity. (Reuters)
