Connecting With Integrity – How to prevent Being Labeled a Link Spammer

It’s just as important to understand what not to do when executing a website linking strategy as it is to understand what to do. With inexpensive connecting software and services readily available, there’s a solid enticement to take shortcuts when obtaining quality links. Avoiding these traps will help your search motor placements rise naturally and stay that way for a long time. In this post, I describe two techniques to help you prevent being labelled a link spammer.

Link Farms

What is a hyperlink farm? A link farm is any website designed and placed up to obtain search engine spiders to get and index web pages. Websites like these provide no end-user power or benefit.

So how do you identify a link farm? First, you must ask yourself, is this site weighty and laden with links? Most link farms will have the “farm” of links with minimal content. As for an explanation of the site’s existence, it’s usually lacking too.

The next question you have to ask is, what does the Link to the site itself look like? Often, link farms will have extended, hyphenated URLs (i., age. our-great-linking-directory. com). This is a generalization, so not all link plants will have these URLs. Individualized link farms are made using the software. The software finds a domain name made up of specific keywords, even if the idea settles on something using several hyphens and quantities. You may still consider a long, hyphenated site for linking requirements, but make sure you conduct more research before submitting a connection.

Next, look at the domain name file format and note if it’s. Advice or. Biz. Many website registrars offer a one-time, serious discount to sell these extensions. I know of numerous registrars that sell. Advice domains for 89 dollars per year. These cheap websites allow spammers to generate many sites at an enormous lower price.

The following criterion I use to help you identify a link farm is the “cheese factor”. Although some link plants will look professionally designed, many are either 1) generated using software or 2) managed with the same cookie-cutter, non-altered layouts that fill search engine results. This is especially valid with blogs. Spammers and Internet newbies will not remember branding their websites or blogs. These are commonly known as “pump and dump” sites.

Another question you should request is, does it look human being? That is, does it look like somebody hangs around and covers things? You should also be able to get in touch with the webmaster through web form or e-mail. If there’s no contact information available anywhere on the website, be very scared.

If it’s a directory website, check out the links in a few from the main directory headings. Would the URLs be hyphenated just like the primary URL? If you visit one of these simple sites, does it look just like the site you just came from? Exist more URLs crammed onto one page than anybody could visit in a lifetime?

Last but not least, avoid it if you have your cynicism that a site might be a hyperlink farm for any reason. It’s better to miss an excellent linking opportunity than to article your link and get cut down in your search engine placements.

nonrelevant Links

When you’re placing your links, you want to make sure that the website you’re linking to offers something to do with your site and vice versa.

A nonrelevant hyperlink is a hypertext hyperlink placed on a website or in a directory site with little to no relevance to the linking site or directory site. These links are placed for your sole purpose of 1) growing page rank or 2) obtaining a website crawled and listed, or a combination of the two.

The obvious way to combat not-relevant hyperlinks, over which you have complete management, is to place links against your site. Avoid placing backlinks on your site to another containing no relevance to your written content, even if it’s legitimate. Precisely why? The link doesn’t do anything for yourself or the person whose url you placed. On the other hand, no longer ask someone to place a connection on their site which will not relate to yours.

Google, Askjeeve, and MSN all look closely at whom you aren’t linking to and linking to you. Google’s PageRank definition specifically claims that link relevance (quality) is looked at more than just the url itself.

So what’s the perfect solution? As in researching a potential url farm, you need to check out the websites you’re linking for you. If you’re submitting your site to directories or article directories, ensure you’re submitting your content along with links to the most relevant matters and sections.

Don’t concern yourself with getting an exact match regarding relevance between your site and the linking site; just ensure that many sites complement each other.

Be experts in the Linking Pitfalls.

In summary, you could be accused of being a link spammer even if you think you have not done anything wrong. To keep the linking strategy clean, I have outlined two specific methods to keep your site secure with the search engines.

First, look out for unscrupulous link directories and websites (i. e., link farms). Use the techniques and ask yourself the questions I’ve laid out above to recognize and avoid these harmful sites.

Second, make sure you’re posting to appropriate sites/directories/articles/blogs or wherever you decide to submit your content and hyperlinks.

Most importantly, if you think you might get charged with being a spammer by attempting to use a linking method you just read about or a software program you bought, trust your gut and don’t do it. Connecting software creators claim that you will get thousands of backlinks with the push of a button or for just “$49”. The only way to get top-quality backlinks is to do the investigation yourself and hand-submit every link.

If you avoid both of these traps, you’ll be well able to get the links you need to get the website placed in higher search results and, as a result, produce more sales.
